What response do I give to someone who thinks I should just think positive and all my pain & symptoms will go away? While there's something to be said for the power of positive thinking, we have to be grounded in reality at the same time, right?
If it was that easy, there would be no disease. Yes I think positive but I'm also realistic about my disease. I have no clue what the future holds for me so I have to think of all aspects of this disease, including becoming disabled and death.
This disease, group of diseases is too unpredictable to not think about what tomorrow brings. I live in the moment. The past is just that, past. And if God grants me another day, I'll have a tomorrow. I pray for good tomorrows. I also had to tell my bff to take a hike, who needs more stress?
Unfortunately even the people closest or claim to be closest to us understand truly what we go thru every day. They really can't see or understand that every moment of every day must be planned out, and we must plan activities in advance to get thru them. Even then, we have to cancel our plans. Yea we should all just think more positive and Voila there's our cures for lupus, sjogren's and all of these autoimmune diseases (insert sarcasm;) People are stupid
Thanks, guys. That's what I needed to hear.... :)
