I went to my first appointment with an Oncologist this week I was pleased that...
Good luck, Joe. Can someone link to the list of questions to ask? My phone isn't being cooperative at the moment. Thank you! I am considering this in the very near future.
Thanks Karen Watson. Here is the link. https://ddsgblog.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/ddsg- questions-to-ask-your-doctors-and-post-rt-care2.pd f
Joe, my RO had only done one other dup patient. When I had my consult he wanted to do the 7 day 21 gy protocol. I told him I wanted the 5x2(30gy) that it was preferred and proven. He left the room, came back a few minutes later and said OK, let's do this. On the way home my husband looks at me and said damn your a rock star. This group gave me the knowledge and confidence to be pro active for my health.
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz - you need to access the forum through a browser rather than the Facebook app to have full access. Otherwise, you will always be redirected to the home page. The welcome message - in the pinned post provides guidance for navigating the forum.
The RO that I saw has treated only 25 DD patients, is that good? Doesn't sound like many
Thank you for commenting Vickie. I will try to do the same.
I had the two rounds for 5days each, 8 weeks apart. I had no restrictions for using my hands, but I teach, so no physical labor was mentioned.
Dawn, mine only treated one before me. No worries if he's following desired protocol.
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz I see you are you of SWF too. Is Hochman the closest doc you suggest for RT therapy if LD & DD? Like to get as close to fort Myers as possible so I can continue to work.
He's excellent Trish read some of his coffee talks in files. He has a few different locations. Probably most experienced at treating this disease in Florida
Yes I liked coffee talk. Closest I think was 2 hr drive which overall isn't bad. Just thinking of how I would swing being there daily
I just finished first round of 5 treatments in Louisiana , Dr Lauve, who has lots of experience with Dupuytrens, a really nice person, who takes his time...I go back in 8 weeks for second round, had absolutely no negative impact
Do you have a link to his website so we can put him on our map of providers?
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz you could discuss with him on the fourth day doing a treatment first thing in the morning and the second one six hours later to combine two treatments on the last day so it would be four days rather than five that you would be getting five treatments
Oh wow. Good to know
I'll call his office tomorrow and forward to you
Roder Russo thanks! If you would kindly post the link right here that would be the best spot for it
Dr Lauve in Louisiana is a fantastic Oncologist, who knows and understands Dupuytren's...In addtion to being an outstanding doctor, he's a genuine nice person:
Dr. Lauve, works out of Baton Rouge General, / Pennington Cancer Center http://www.brgeneral.org/
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz would you please add Dr. Lauve to the map? I'm thinking there may be two other members who have seen Dr. Lauve.
