  • Jolene... everyone is so different and the drugs affect us differently too. I was under the impression that Prednisone was for short term use while implementing other drugs that take longer to start working. For me, I started 60 'mg prednisone in Sept 2015. Began 20 mg Methotrexate weekly in Dec 2015... then started Remicade infusions every 8 weeks in Jan 2016. Started weaning off Prednisone in March 2016. Finally off it July 2016. Still taking Methotrexate and Remicade... changed to AIP elimination diet and I am feeling better

  • Jolene tell ur dr u need a different treatment . many different treatments out there if he doesn't help u find a new dr that will . The good ones r far and few

  • I was on 40 mg of prednisone for only two days and freaked out, thought I was losing my mind, and the doctor immediately halved my dose but even at 20 mg I felt awful. Some people tolerate high doses but others do not. All of the drugs that treat sarcoidosis come with side effects, but some are tolerable and some are not. Unfortunately it is often a case of trial and error to weigh risks of the side effects against the benefits of the drug, and then how well you might tolerate those side effects. Personally, I am drug free, choosing natural anti-inflammatories instead, but depending on the severity of their symptoms, that may not be an option for everyone.

  • FSR has published a list of the drugs that are commonly used to treat sarcoidosis, and also a physician's protocol. https://www.stopsarcoidosis.org/awareness/treatmen t-options/
