  • I cant speak for the rest of the EDS population but I have a few wierd and rare allergies. I am allergic to Tylenol, Red Dye #40, and suspected gluten intolerance. I also have a rare allergy known as Solar Urticaria. Its a sun allergy. I cant be exposed to direct sunlight for more than an hour without getting a severe rash, vomiting, weakness, and migraines. I always wear protective clothing. Long sleeves. Pants, gloves, and a hat. I dont cover my face but I dont go outside much during the day.

I am also extremely cold intolerant. If my hands get too cold they swell up. The skin on my feet starts to sloff of in small layers and makes them raw. Generally I like to stay in a heated are at about 80 degrees. This also helps lower the pain from the EDS as well.

  • Well it's good to know I'm not alone when it comes to this.

I've heard about the sun allergy before and read up on it a little bit. Sounds pretty painful :(

I forgot to mention I also have bad skin reactions to lots of things. Chlorine is a BIG one. I cant go in swimming pools or hot tubs. My skin gets red, itchy, I get hives sometimes and eczema. My skin also reacts badly to cold, similar to yours, though not as severe.
